A group of Congress leaders and workers staged a protest against the state government for its “failure to complete the development projects”, near Dugra Mata Mandir chowk on Wednesday.

Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee (PPCC) secretary Parminder Mehta said foundations stones of different projects had been laid around one and a half years ago in the city but nothing has been done so far.

He claimed that the MC’s budget for this session is not sufficient for the development of the city. “The MC had proposed a budget of around Rs 1300 crore last year but development did not take place, so how the civic body will ensure development with just Rs 803 crore for 2015-16,” he questioned.

He alleged that SAD-BJP ruling alliance had failed to complete the development works in time.
