Following the intervention of Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh, four woman Congress MLAs, who had spent the night inside the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, were asked to go home.

Karan Kaur Brar, Charanjeet Kaur Bajwa, Harchand Kaur and Aruna Chaudhary left the assembly around 3 pm on Tuesday.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Charanjit Singh Channi told Hindustan Times that Amarinder Singh wanted the woman MLAs to discontinue the protest.

Now, there are 23 Congress MLAs staying put inside the Vidhan Sabha. “Rest of the MLAs will continue to be inside the house till our demands are met,” Channi said.

The Congress legislators spent Monday night inside the assembly, sleeping on the floor and seats of the House, as part of an unprecedented protest against the state government after losing the no-confidence motion.
