Sharpening its attack against presidential candidate of the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) alliance Pranab Mukherjee, Team Anna on Thursday alleged that the Congress party wants all “ineligible and tainted persons” to sit on the top constitutional posts.

“Mukherjee was facing serious charges of corruption and he figures in the list of fifteen corrupt Union cabinet ministers prepared by Team Anna against whom we have demanded investigations. Still, the ruler of the Congress party, want all such “tainted and in-eligible” leaders on the top posts as they will find it easy to control them to maintain their supremacy in the party and the country,” stated key Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal.

Alongwith other Team Anna members Kumar Biswas, Sanjay Singh and Kulwant Rai, Kejriwal was in Patiala on Thursday to address a gathering of India Against Corruption members exhorting them to participate in-definite fast scheduled on Jantar Mantar in Delhi from July 25.

“Look at our democratic system now. After Mukherjee wins, our President, the Prime Minister and fourteen Union Cabinet Ministers will be tainted alonwith 165 Members of MPs already facing charges of corruption. Means from top to bottom this government would be corrupt,” pointed out Kejriwal.

Alleging that desperate to ensure Mukherjee’s win, the Congress was striking “deals” with different parties, Kejriwal charged the Congress for making mockery of the entire Presidential election procedure.

“We want trial of Mukherjee by judiciary for the allegations leveled against him,” said another team member Kumar Biswas.

Terming SAD-BJP in Punjab government gutted in the cases of corruption, Team Anna also took dig at the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for declaring his party’s support to the anti-corruption campaign running in the country led by Anna Hazzare.

“SAD-BJP government in Punjab was no different. Corruption flourished in the state in their rule. Few ministers of the government were gutted in corruption and were facing serious allegations,” said Kejriwal.

He advised the Punjab CM that if he was so serious over the issue, taking a lead in the country, his government should come out with a strong Lok Pal. “The statements made by the CM to our campaign is not support but is a cheating,” said Kejriwal, advising Badal not to make attempts to get political mileage out of Team Anna’s campaign.

“July 25 fast will start as per schedule, at Jantar Mantar or in jail”

With Delhi Police refusing to give permission for conducting fast in Jantar Mantar as scheduled by Team Anna on July 25 in the afternoon, minutes after, Kejriwal termed it the result of conspiracies made by Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram against the Team Anna.

“Chidambaram knows that he would be in trouble as Team Anna has vital proofs of the corruption made by him. Delhi police was doing all this on behalf of him,” said Kejriwal.

He said, the reason given by Delhi Police that they cannot give permission for fast as the Monsoon Session of Parliament will be underway at that time.

“It's totally ridiculous. This means our MPs are so scared from the demonstration of the common man near Parliament. Whatever may come, our fast will start as per schedule. If not in Jantar Mantar, we would carry out the fast in Jails,” said Kejriwal.
