Congress activists on Saturday took out a protest march in the city against the SAD-BJP government for allegedly threatening the transporters and telling them not to give buses for the December 15 rally of the Congress here to mark the coronation of Captain Amarinder Singh as president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee.

The march, led by former minster Chiranji Lal Garg, and councillor in the Bathinda municipal corporation Jagroop Singh Gill, passed through different parts of the city. Congress leaders alleged that the Punjab government was trying to sabotage the rally by using the state power as transporters are being threatened not to provide buses for ferrying people to the rally venue. The leaders alleged that appointment of Amarinder Singh as Punjab Congress president has frustrated the SAD so the party was trying to thwart the rally by all means.
