The Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed Maruti Suzuki, Gurgaon, and DD Motors, Delhi, to pay Rs 15,000 as compensation and litigation expenses to the complainant besides repairing his car free of cost.
In his complaint, Rajan Dushyant Vig, a resident of Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, said he had bought a car from the Maruti showroom that started creating problems right from day one. He repeatedly approached the service station but they just repaired the car but the problem of the gear box was not rectified properly.
Though the car was under warranty, the company allegedly failed to address the problem.
He said despite several complaints his car was not replaced or the problem rectified.
In its reply, the company said they undertook the repairs on the gear box but the customer never asked them to change the gear box.
The forum directed the car service station to replace the gearbox free of cost along with the compensation and litigation expenses to the complainant within a month of the receipt of the copy of the order.
