The forum immediately stayed the recovery of the said amount of Rs 19.25 lakh. The forum, presided over by Navin Puri, summoned the PSPCL officials concerned.
After hearing both the parties under the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act,1986, the forum directed the PSPCL authorities to hold an independent inquiry by some high-ranking officer not below the rank of executive engineer of the PSPCL to dig out the truth of the matter.
The PSPCL inquiry report finally said that Narinder Pal Singh actually owed Rs 24,339 only to the PSPCL as per his power consumption for the period under question.
