The district consumers' welfare sangathan on Thursday said that the local authorities of the state power board were not performing their duties well, as a result of which, the common man was suffering badly.
District president of the sangathan, Sushil Sharma alleged that at this time, when people were facing the wrath of the biting cold, the board was resorting to unscheduled power cuts, thereby causing problems to the people.
“On many occasions, patients had to suffer for want of power, as their operations and other tests were not performed in time,” said Sharma.
He said that telephones of the grievance redress section of the authorities remained silent, and “no one bothered to attend them”.
“It was a serious lapse on part of the board authorities, and they should improve their working style,” he added.
The sangathan leader said that if there was no improvement in the power supply system in the town, the members of the sangathan would resort to protest in the coming days.
