Contest held to observe Road Safety Week

Various competitions were organised at Green Land Senior Secondary Public School to observe Road Safety Week on Sunday.Inter-school declamation and slogan-writing contests were organised in which the teams of 20 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Punjab Board schools of Ludhiana participated.

Ludhiana DCP Naveen Singla and DTO Anil Garg marked the occasion with their presence.

The theme of declamation contest 'Road safety is not just a slogan but a way of life' was lived upon in various speeches delivered by the students in three languages, including English, Hindi and Punjabi.

Singla appreciated the efforts made by the school to spread awareness and inculcate 'road sense' among Ludhiana citizens.

Garg stressed upon the need for following traffic rules. He said drunken driving was the main cause of accidents on highways. It should be strictly prohibited.

School principal Baldeep Pandher also impressed upon following traffic rules and adopting a road sense.

Results of declamation contest

Rishav Aggarwal of KVM School stood first, Taranjit Kaur of BCM School bagged second and Palak of Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, Jalandhar By Pass, clinched third spot, while Malika of Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, Jalandhar By Pass, bagged consolation prize.
