The civil contractor who consumed poison on November 6 died on Saturday after struggling with life for three days. The Division 4 police on Saturday registered a case of abetment to suicide against his father-in-law Bhushan Kumar Aggarwal, brother-in-law Abhishek Aggarwal and relative Ashwani Kumar under section 306 of the IPC.
The deceased Amit Bansal (33) of New Tagore Nagar was a contractor. After spending sometime in Canada, he came back to Ludhiana in 2011. Amit had left behind a 16-page suicide note, claiming that his father-in-law was harassing him for money. The police have also found some envelops, containing complaints addressed to Prime Minister of India, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and some news channels.
His father Sushil Kumar had sold a property a few days ago. Amit Bansal alleged in the suicide note that his in-laws were demanding money from him.
Amit got married to Nisha of Chander Nagar around 9 years ago. The couple has an eight-year-old daughter.
Sandeep Gupta, a relative of the deceased, told the police that fed up with the threats and humiliation he was getting at the hands of his in-laws, Amit consumed poison on November 6. He was rushed to DMC hospital, where he died on Saturday.
Division 4 SHO sub-inspector Bittan Kumar said the police have started efforts to nab the accused.
