Demanding immediate release of their one-month pending salary, the contractual and clerical staff of Patiala Municipal Corporation (MC) held a protest on the corporation premises here on Wednesday.

The members of Patiala MC contractual employees' union alleged that the corporation had enough funds to clear the salary of its contractual and clerical staff. "We have examined the bank accounts of the MC and learnt that they have enough money to clear last six months dues of the union members but due to the lackadaisical attitude of officials, union employees did not get their salaries," said Naresh Bobi, president of the union.

"Without their salaries, the staff are finding it difficult to meet their daily expenses," said the union members.

The members claimed that there were more than 250 contractual class IV employees and 30 clerical staff who have not received their last month's salary. "Many haven't received salary for the last two months," they said.

The union members claimed that they would continue with their protest if their salaries were not released by the MC.
