Kapurthala deputy commissioner Alaknanda Dayal on Monday directed public works department (B&R) and sewerage board officials to expedite lying of sewerage in the city since it was causing inconvenience to commuters.
"Due to lack of coordination among different departments, the public is facing lots of inconvenience. It is not at all desirable," she said while addressing a meeting of officials from PWD, sewerage board, mandi board and rural development department here.
"The sewerage-laying works on the Kapurthala-Sultanpur Lodhi road along with Begowal, Bholath and Nadala blocks have been delayed inordinately and must be completed with due coordination as early as possible so that the public may not face any inconvenience while commuting on the roads," she said.
The DC also directed PWD officials to start work to strengthen roads and put side pillars on small bridges. "The work should be started by April 30, once harvesting is over, and must be completed before plantation of paddy," she added.
She also directed Mandi board officials to make proper arrangements for protecting wheat lying in grain markets from rains.
