The police produced the accused before the court of duty magistrate on Sunday. The court remanded the accused in one-day police custody.
The accused have been identified as Soniya and Saloni of Siliguri of Assam, Shalu of Delhi and Rajwinder Singh and Tejinder Singh of Ludhiana. However, Madhu, who allegedly runs the brothel, managed to flee the spot.
According to police, the accused were caught from an infamous brothel in the area. They said as Jassi Aunty, kingpin of the brothel, had turned old, Madhu was taking care of the brothel's operations.
According to inspector Jaswinder Singh, station house officer (SHO), Shimlapuri police station, the police raided the brothel following a tip-off and arrested three women and two men, who were found in a compromising position.
The SHO this was the second raid at the brothel in four months. In its previous raid, the police had arrested seven girls from the brothel.
A case has been registered under Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Trafficking Act.
