Cops clueless in Ludhiana minor gangrape case

The police are clueless about the two unidentified accused in the case in which a two-year-old girl was gangraped here on Tuesday.

The condition of the victim is critical and she was operated upon at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh on Wednesday. The PGI officials said the child had suffered serious injuries on her genitals.

The minor was abducted while she was sleeping alongside her mother at their Haibowal house on the wee hours of Tuesday and gangraped by the two accused. The girl was found abandoned on the roadside near her house.

The police have initiated investigation under additional deputy commissioner of police Neelambari Vijay Jagdale.

Jagdale visited the house on Wednesday and recorded the statements of her parents and neighbours. The police have also rounded up a few locals in this regard.

3-year-old raped in Nakodar

A three-year-old girl, who was raped by her uncle here, has been referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, in a serious condition.

Nakodar city police investigating officer Bhupinder Singh said the police on Wednesday received information about the crime that was committed five days ago.

He said the victim's mother, a resident of Hoshiarpur, had come to Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar here to meet her brother-in-law.

The investigating officer said the accused raped her daughter, who was admitted to the Hoshiarpur civil hospital from where she was referred to the PGI.

Bhupinder Singh said the police had registered a case against the accused, Shallu, on the complaint of the victim's father.
