The district police have deployed police forces for the protection of students from Sikkim studying in a private educational institution located in the bordering area of Kala Amb.

The police swung into action after the intervention of the Sikkim government. Sources said the security would be reviewed time to time and if needed than it would continue.

According to the police, a minor scuffle took place between the students of Sikkim and Haryana four days ago on which the students of Sikkim expressed apprehension of retaliation by a group of Haryana students.

Sources said the students raised the concern before the Sikkim government, following which senior officers of the Sikkim government brought the matter to the notice of the Himachal government.

Following the directions of the Himachal DGP, the district police initiated the necessary steps and decided to provide the security to Sikkim students.

Sikkim students also took assistance of social networking sites to reach their government.

According to information, around 40-50 students from Sikkim are studying in the institution. “Security has been deployed in the institution because Sikkim students had expressed apprehension of retaliation by Haryana students,” said superintendent of police Sumedha Dwivedi. She also admitted that a communication was received from the DGP office for the action.
