Traffic rules were flouted with impunity at a road rally held by Shiv Sena even as police officials were accompanying the activists, mostly teenagers.

The protest rally began from Phase 9 here and passed through heart of the town and reached deputy commissioner’s office in Phase 1.

While none of the youngsters were seen wearing helmets, triple riding and clicking selfies was also witnessed.

In cars, people were sitting on windows, thus posing risk to their lives and commuters around. Police seemed helpless as it turned a blind eye to traffic violations.

Two police control room (PCR) vehicles were driving along with the rally, one ahead of the rally while another following it but none of the cops tried to check the violations.

Adding to that, in few vehicles cops were seen driving and escorting the rally.

The rally culminated with a protest dharna outside DC office, SAS Nagar, and a charter of demands was submitted to DC, which included seeking Rs 10 lakh compensation to terrorist attack victims.
