Shiromani Akali Dal( SAD) Raikot president Kulwinder Singh Bhatti has landed himself in the soup. The court of district and session judge Gobinder Singh on Saturday rejected the anticipatory bail plea filed by Bhatti and his accomplices Jagtar Singh and Jagraj Singh in a forgery and criminal conspiracy case filed against them.

The Raikot police had registered the case on June 2 following a complaint by Bhawandeep Kaur, wife of Amandeep Singh, national general secretary of Youth Akali Dal and president of Raikot municipal council.

Bhawandeep had accused the trio of duping her of Rs 1.60 crore.

In her complaint, Bhawandeep had alleged that she purchased a piece of land at Seeloani road from Chand Singh. Both parties had duly signed an agreement in this context to which Kulwinder Singh Bhatti, Jagtar Singh, Jagdish Lal Jain and Jagraj Singh were witnesses.

Bhawandeep alleged that Chand Singh assured her that as the piece of land belonged to his NRI son Harjinder Singh, he would get the land registered in her name through him.

According to the complainant, she had paid Rs 10 lakh to the accused during the agreement and later paid Rs 52 lakh, 62 lakh and 42 lakh in three instalments.

Having faith in Chand's assurances, she had also got the sewerage laid at a cost of Rs 55 lakh.
However, later she came to know that the accused got the land registered in the name of Harwinder Singh of Rajgarh, who is the brother-in-law of Chand's NRI son.

Later, Harwinder Singh signed an agreement regarding the land with Bhatti, who in criminal connivance with Chand and Jagraj sold some plots from the piece of land.

The accused claimed before the court that Bhawandeep had framed them in a false case. However, the additional public prosecutor opposed their bail application.
