Crime against women: In-laws booked for attempt to murder

The Patiala police have booked in-laws of a 25-year-old woman in an attempt to murder case and subjecting the woman to cruelty on Monday.

As per the information, the woman who was married three year ago became the victim of her in-laws cruelty. Her husband and other family members used to torture her for dowry from the last two years and on Monday, her husband, along with some other family members, tried to choke her to death.

The victim was immediately rushed to Rajindra Hospital, where on her complaint police booked four persons, including her husband Preet Inder Ghai, mother in-law Shindra Devi, grandmother and his uncle, under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code.

Station house officer at Bhadso Rajwinder Singh said the police have been investigating the case but nobody was arrested yet.

In another case of crime against woman, a 30-year-old woman on Monday tried to end her life after continuous torture from her in-laws here in Samana City. The police have booked three persons, including her husband Sandeep Kumar, under sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The woman has been transferred to PGI Chandigarh for treatment.
