CVO to table report on MC estimation, tendering by Monday

On a complaint from first-time BJP councillor, Krishan Kochhar Minta from wrd number 27, a vigilance department team checked and collected records from the MC office on Tuesday.
Speaking to HT, the CVO said: "We collected the relevant record during the Tuesday visit. It would not be right to comment on the findings now. However, by Monday a detailed report will be sent to higher officials."
"Even for things available to a common man at Rs 5, the MC passed estimates to purchase these at Rs 7-8. In fact, the MC can negotiate and buy the items at even less than Rs 5," alleged Krishan Kochhar Minta, while talking to HT.
"The functioning of the house seemed like a mockery of democracy to me. I was stunned by the way it all happened. In 10 minutes, majority of plans, proposals and estimates were passed with a voice note only and without any deliberations," he alleged.
"When I scrutinised some of the proposals, I noticed that the estimates passed by the house were at much higher rates than the market price. This will case a loss of lakhs of Rs to the MC, already reeling under a financial crunch," he alleged.
"The estimates of soaps, oil, paper rims and stationery items were highly inflated," he alleged.
Before moving to the department of local bodies with my complaint, I tried to get the attention of senior officers of the MC, but I was simply ignored.
"I am waiting for an invite from department of local bodies so that I can make a presentation," said Kochhar.
Mayor Sunil Jyoti when contacted said, "A team from the head office had checked different records from the MC office and stores. We are waiting for the report and then decide on the next course of action."
