Dairy owner mowed down by train

A train mowed down a 60-year-old man who accidently slipped and fell on the railway track while crossing the railway lines near Gill village on Saturday morning.

A train mowed down a 60-year-old man who accidently slipped and fell on the railway track while crossing the railway lines near Gill village on Saturday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Labh Singh of Phullanwal village. The victim had gone to Gill village to purchase cows for his dairy. While crossing the railway track, he fell down and suffered a head injury. In the meantime, the Ludhiana-Hisar express mowed over him.

GRP reached at the spot and initiated investigation. The police found a chit from his pocket with a mobile number written on it. The police contacted on the same number and identified the body.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Bhupinder Singh said the body was sent to civil hospital for post-mortem examination and proceedings under Section 174 ( inquire and report on suicide, etc) of the CrPC have been filed.
