Dance of death on tricity roads: Five people lose lives in 24 hrs

A 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed after his two-wheeler was hit by a speeding tractor trolley near the poultry farm road in Industrial Area, Chandigarh, on late Wednesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Sher Singh (29), a resident of Phase 1, Industrial Area. The deceased was a supervisor at a workshop in the Industrial Area. The victim is survived by his wife and two children.

The complainant, Jai Kumar of Kalka, alleged that he saw a tractor trolley (PB-43B-3671) hitting a motorcycle. Badly injured, Sher Singh was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile the police have arrested the accused driver, identified as Vijay Pal of Makhan Majra village. A case has beenregistered at the Industrial Area police station.

Pedestrian Killed after being hit by car

A 50-year-old resident of Manimajra, Kuldeep, was killed after being hit by a rashlydriven car on the road leading towards Modern Housing Board on Thursday night. The police said Kuldeep was crossing the road when a speeding Indica car (CH03 X 1376) hit him. The accused driver sped away from the spot. The PCR took the victim to public health centre in Manimajra where he was declared brought dead. The police arrested the car driver, Nand Kishore Sharma (62), and booked him under Sections 279 and 304-A of the IPC.

Man killed in hit -and-run

A 29-year-old pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a car at Zirakpur on late night on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Santosh Kumar of Derabassi, who worked in a factory at Bankarpur. The accident took place when Santosh was going to his home from the workplace. When Santosh tried cross the road, a car coming from Chandigarh side hit him. He was dragged for about 50 feet. Critically injured, Santosh was rushed to GMCH-32 where he was declared brought dead. A case has been registered against the unidentified car driver.

Two -wheeler rider killed in Mishap

A Mansa resident got killed as an unidentified vehicle hit him when he was riding a motorcycle. Jaswant, 32, met with the accident near Billa village in Barwala on Wednesday night. He was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
