Daughter-in-law among two held for murder
The district police claimed to have solved the murder of one Paramjit Singh, a resident of Ballagan village, who was allegedly got killed by his daughter-in-law as he was allegedly forcing her to have illicit relations with him.

The police have arrested the victim's daughter-in-law and a co-villager.
A case under Sections 302 and 392 of the IPC was registered in Kahnuwan police station against the alleged killer, Jagjit Singh alias Guggu, a resident of the same village. The victim's son, Amandeep Singh, had told the Kahnuwan police on September 27 that his father Paramjit Singh received a phone call on September 26, after which he went out of home and said he would be back in 10 minutes, but he did not return.
When he did not return even after a few hours, his kin and villagers started a search and found his motorcycle (PB58 C-7242) parked on the bank of the Upper Bari Doab Canal at Sathiali village.
They found his body in a nearby sugarcane field. It bore injury marks on head, forehead and throat.
Senior superintendent of police Sukhwant Singh Gill told the media on Saturday that the police investigation team traced the killer in no time. After he was arrested, the alleged killer, Jagjit Singh alias Guggu, told the police that he murdered Paramjit Singh when he came to know about the "plight" of his daughter-in-law Sukhraj Kaur alias Raj.
He said Sukhraj Kaur had told him that her father-in-law Paramjit Singh had been harassing her, forcing her to have illicit relations with him and also used to make obscene gestures at her.
Guggu said she had told him that she was fed up with the indecent behaviour of her father-in-law. He added that moved by the words of Sukhraj Kaur, he killed Paramjit.
Guggu had called up Paramjit Singh telling him that he had "arranged" a woman for him. Guggu told the police that when Paramjit arrived at a place fixed for meeting, he first attacked with a sword on his head and when he fell down he inflicted blows of sword on his body killing him on the spot.
He added that he threw the sword into the canal. Guggu added that he took away the purse and mobile of the victim. He said he kept the money with him, but threw away his purse and mobile into the canal.
Meanwhile, the police have also arrested Sukhraj Kaur and recovered the weapon used in the crime.
