A day after violence was witnessed during the zila parishad and block samiti elections, two FIRs were registered against the Congress supporters in this district for allegedly disrupting the election process and the subsequent violence.

In Rajpura block, Congress supporter Malkiat Singh was booked for making a "fake call" to the Rajpura SDM, saying booths had been hijacked at Uppal Kheri village.

According to the police, when they reached the spot following the SDM orders, they found everything peaceful, with Malkiat, a Congress voting agent, also sitting in the chair and enjoying tea.

On the complaint of Rajpura SHO, Rajan Parminder Singh, the Congress agent was booked under the Representation of People Act for disrupting an employee from performing his duty.

In the second case, five Congress supporters, including zila parishad candidate Amarinder Partap Singh, were booked on the complaint of the SAD candidate from Leelapur zila parishad zone on the allegations that the Congress supporters manhandled the women candidates.
