Three teachers were found absent from duty during a surprise check by deputy commissioner Paramjeet Singh in schools, anganwari centres, civil dispensaries and veterinary hospitals on Tuesday.

The DC has recommended disciplinary action against erring teachers, namely Khojewala Government Primary School incharge Kashmir Kaur, teacher Yogita Dhir and a PTI teacher of Khojewal Government Middle School.

"All are supposed to report for duty on time and none will be excused if found coming late or remaining absent," the DC said.

Singh also visited schools, civil dispensaries and veterinary hospitals at Wadala Kalan and Mansurwal Dona villages.

In schools, he checked records related to mid-day meals, medical fitness and academic progress of students.
He further directed Kapurthala Animal Husbandry deputy director to send a doctor on deputation to veterinary hospital at Wadala Kalan as doctor posted there had gone on leave.
