DC inspects five counting centres established at PAU

With just three days left for declaration of result for Parliamentary elections, deputy commissioner Rajat Agarwal visited the counting centres established at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Monday. The counting of votes will be done on May 16 from 8am onwards.

For facilitating vote counting in Ludhiana constituency (07), district administration has set five counting centres. After inspection of the arrangements at counting centres, Agarwal ensured that counting process would be transparent.

Deputy commissioner said media centre had been established at students home. Only media persons having election cards issued by Election Commission would be allowed to do the coverage as per norms at the counting centres, he added.

He said no person other than the counting agents would be allowed to enter at counting centre and no one would be allowed to use mobile phones. For transparency in process, videography of the centres would also be done.

Agarwal also visited Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC), Gill Road, where counting for five vidhan Sabha constituencies, including Fatehgarh Sahib constituency would be done.

Police commissioner Sanjeev Kalra, deputy police commissioner Harsh Bansal, additional deputy commissioner (development) Isha Kalia, and assistant returning officers (ARO) Kuljitpal Singh Mahi, Apneet Riat, Sumit Jarangal, Kuldeep Singh, Anil Garg, Babita Kaler and Darbara Singh and election tehsildar Sukhdev Singh and other public works department and corporation officers were also present.
