The deputy commissioner-cum-returning officer Indu Malhotra has issued strict directions regarding the election expenditure by candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur.
During a meeting of all the returning officers and party candidates here on Sunday, the deputy commissioner asked the candidates to strictly comply with the directions of the election commission regarding the expenditure.
The deputy commissioner said the candidates should give details of the expenditure incurred on the vehicle and seek permission for the vehicle to be used in the election campaign.
It is also mandatory for all candidates to install the original copy of the permission on the vehicle along with the address and details of the driver, she added.
Asking the candidates to maintain the expenditure register regularly, she directed the nodal officers to check these registers on a daily basis.
The candidates were also told to publish their details on all printed material, including posters, banners, hoardings, etc., being used in the polls. She also asked the flying squad to keep an eye on paid news.
