District deputy commissioner Abhinav Trikha has ordered an inquiry into the alleged poor quality of the building having chambers for the bar members by Gurdaspur PWD executive engineer Parminder Singh Tiwana.

The probe order came on Wednesday after a deputation led by Gurdaspur District Bar Association (GDBA) president Joginder Singh Kaler demanded a probe into the poor quality of the building.

Meanwhile, the rebel group of GDBA held a meeting of its members under presidentship of Balwinder Kaur Bajwa here on Wednesday and passed a resolution, thanking local MLA and chief parliamentary secretary Gurbachan Singh Babbehali for his role in the allocation of `1 crore grant for the bar chambers and MP Ashwani Kumar for allotting a grant of `15 lakh from his discretionary quota of funds to the bar.

This group, at a meeting of GDBA members held here on September 9, had removed GDBA president Joginder Singh Kaler from his office and elected vice-president Balwinder Kaur as president.

However, supporters of Kaler held a meeting on September 10 and reposed their faith in him and declared the meeting and decisions taken by the rebel members of the bar "illegal".

At present, two parallel bodies of the GDBA, headed by Joginder Singh Kaler and Balwinder Kaur Bajwa, are working separately.
