DC visits counting centres

District election officer-cum-deputy commissioner Rajat Aggarwal visited Khalsa College, Medical College and Mai Bhago Govt Polytechnic for Women, in Amritsar today to take stock of the arrangements made for the counting of votes.

District election officer-cum-deputy commissioner Rajat Aggarwal visited Khalsa College, Medical College and Mai Bhago Government Polytechnic for Women on Sunday to take stock of the arrangements made for the counting of votes.

He was accompanied by Police Commissioner RP Mittal and Satpal Joshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police and returning officers of various constituencies.

Aggarwal also took stock of the security arrangements at the strong rooms during his visit to these centres. He held discussions with the police officials about the security arrangements on this occasion.

"Only people having prior approval of the Election Commission would be allowed to enter the counting centres," he said, stating that the arrangements for parking of vehicles of the counting staff and their seating arrangements have also been made.

He added that the counting of votes for Ajnala assembly constituency would be held at Government College, Ajnala.

"The counting of votes for Rajasansi, Jandiala and Amritsar North assembly constituencies would take place at Medical College, Amritsar, for Majitha, Amritsar Central and Amritsar East assembly constituencies at Mai Bhago Government Polytechnic for Women, Majitha Road, Amritsar West, Amritsar South constituency at Khalsa College, Amritsar and Attari assembly constituency at Khalsa College Senior Secondary School," said Aggarwal.

"The counting of votes for Baba Bakala assembly constituency will take place at Mata Ganga Girls Senior Secondary School at Baba Bakala," he said.
