The suspense over Basant Panchmi celebrations was finally unveiled on Friday, when chief caretaker of Lord Raghunath temple Maheshvar Singh, who is also the chief of Himachal Lokhit Party, announced that the festival would be celebrated with fervor in the Kullu town from January 24 onwards.

Talking to the mediapersons here at the circuit house Singh said after the idol of Raghunath was stolen from the temple recently, the residents were apprehensive whether Basant Panchami would be celebrated or not, as Raghunath has an important role in the event.

"We have consulted our local deities and their kardars over the issue and got the permission to celebrate the event. Now it will be celebrated in a traditional way at Dalpur ground here," he added.

Singh added, "We are hoping that the police will soon find out the stolen idols." He said the Raghunath's rath yatra would be performed as usual, with people throwing dry gulal on each other. "In the evening, the devotees will gather at the temple premises in Sultanpur,: he added.
