A deaf-mute married woman was allegedly raped by an employee of a department store here last week. The incident took place on Sunday, but it took the shocked woman a few days to reveal it to her husband. The latter approached the police, who arrested the accused, Manpreet Singh, after identification by the victim.

Dharam Dev Singh, station house officer (SHO), Urban Estate police station, said the woman's husband had told them that she used to visit a gurdwara every Sunday.
