Threatening the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) of harsh protests, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) on Thursday said any decision against the “Panj Pyaras” and their “Gurmata” (decree) during the emergency executive meeting of SGPC called by its chief Avtar Singh Makkar on January 1, may lead to internal conflict within the Sikh community.
In a statement issued here, SAD (A) chief Simranjit Singh Mann said, “If the SGPC takes any action against ‘Panj Pyaras’, it may lead to internal conflict in the Sikh community. In that case, SGPC along with Badals will be responsible for all the destruction that is going to happen,” said Mann.
In view of the fresh summons issued by the “Panj Pyaras”, the SGPC chief has summoned an emergency meeting of the 15-member executive on January 1. “Panj Pyaras”, on Monday, had directed the SGPC executive to dismiss the jathedars of Akal Takht, Takht Damdama Sahib and Takht Keshgarh Sahib before January 2.
