"It's an eye-opener (for the opponents), will give boost to the party leaders, workers, and volunteers in all states, more so in Punjab where we have four MPs," Mann told HT on Tuesday, adding that Delhi, as expected, had endorsed the earlier 49-day rule of the AAP.

About the performance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he said: "It will help Delhi's traffic, as now all three of its legislators could go to the assembly on one scooter. Punjab should help itself the same way."

The MP said the Punjab now would focus on Punjab, where its senior leadership would start planning for winning clear majority in 2017. He claimed he wouldn't project himself as chief ministerial candidate though, saying: "I am a dedicated soldier of the party and will accept whatever responsibility it gives me."

He was confident that the Delhi victory would help the AAP in the Dhuri assembly byelection forced by the resignation of Congress legislator Arvind Khanna. "It will have an impact in this direct fight with the Punjab government," said Mann. The party workers in Sangrur distributed sweets in all public places to celebrate their historic day.
