Members of Pendu Mazdoor Union (PMU) on Friday held a protest march in Jalandhar to demand registration of a murder case against Shital Vij, owner of the factory building that collapsed on April 15, killing 23 persons and several others injured.
Raising slogans against the district administration and Vij, the protestors demanded a judicial probe to expose alleged negligence of the industrialist, due to which the four-storey building collapsed like a pack of cards.
Even the compensation announced to kin of the victims by the state government was "too low" and be hiked to Rs ten lakh for those killed in the mishap, union president Kashmir Singh Gughshor said while addressing the protestors.
He warned that if the demands of the PMU were not met, the union would intensify its agitation.
