The district education office (DEO) will move out of the centuries-old, crumbling building to a safer workplace, finally.

Deputy commissioner Kamal Kishore Yadav has directed the employees to vacate the office, yet causal to safety, the authorities concerned continue to keep them in the workplace that the public works department (PWD) has marked unsafe since 1996. "We have asked them to shift quickly. Besides, we have discussed the relocation with principal secretary and sent her a report," said Yadav.

If the employees find it uncomfortable working from three rooms in the service training centre of the district education department on Ladowali Road, they'll have to move to a rented office. "Since no government building is available at this time, a temporary workplace is all we can offer them," said the DC.

District education officer (elementary) Anil Kumar recalled the lot of difficulty working from a building with out-of-use sections, a roof riddled with holes, and caved- portions covered by wooden planks. "In rains, the entire office is flooded," he said. The previous DEOs who sat in this office wrote to the education department repeatedly for shifting the workplace. "The DC has provided us with a temporary office, finally," said Kumar.
