A day after followers of Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda blocked the main gate of Fatehabad city police station in protest against the alleged ‘inappropriate portrayal’ of Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a television show aired on Zee TV on December 27, protesters blocked the National Highway-10 (Delhi-Hisar via Fatehabad to Sirsa) on Thursday.

Protesters have been demanding action against actor Kiku Sharda who mimicked the Dera chief in the programme titled ‘Jashn-E-Umeed’. Kiku is better known for playing the character of Palak in popular comedy show, Comedy Nights with Kapil.

The protesters gathered at Dera camp situated near Fatehabad by-pass and later blocked the main road near the by-pass, leaving huge traffic chaos on both sides of the road with police trying its best to divert traffic to other routes.

“We have also formed a fivemember committee,” a protester said, not wishing to be named.

Finally, the protesters were dispersed when Fatehabad ASP Gangaram reached the spot with heavy force and pacified the protesters. Fatehabad SP was not available for comments even after repeated calls.

Police spokesperson Vinod Kumar said, “The Fatehabad Police registered a case under Section 295-A (outraging religious feelings) on a complaint from Luxman Kumar, son of Kishan, resident of Gurunanakpura Mohalla Fatehabad against Kiku Sharda, the actor. There is no complaint from anyone against the TV channel.”
