Despite the loss in the bypolls in Talwandi Sabo and Patiala, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state convener, Sucha Singh Chotepur claimed that the party's future was bright in Punjab as the people here were fed-up with both the Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BJP alliance and were desperately in search of an alternative.
"With the Peoples Party of Punjab (PPP) and its Left wing allies failing to find acceptance among Punjabis, the only alternate left before them was AAP" Chotepur said while interacting with the media after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple here on Wednesday.
Predicting that AAP would form the next government in Punjab after the assembly polls in 2017, he said that the people were looking to his party to pull Punjab out of the doldrums. Both the Congress and the SAD-BJP alliance are responsible for the down slide of this border state, he added.
When his attention was drawn to the poor showing of the party in Patiala and Talwandi Sabo, the AAP convener was of the opinion that a bye-election was " not the barometer to measure the popularity of a party". Such elections in Punjab have always been won on muscle and money power and these have never been fair, he added
