He was speaking at a public meeting organised by Trident Group. People raised the demand to lower collector rates citing that in some instances, rates fixed for various localities in the city were even higher than Chaura Bazar, Ludhiana. Dhindsa said, "I have already talked to Financial commissioner revenue on this matter. Rates have already been lowered for Mansa district. For Barnala too, the rates would be rationalised."
Piara Lal Singla of Barnala Conlonisers and Builders Association demanded regularisation of colonies by charging impounding fee based on 'per acre basis' instead of per square yard basis. FM assured to sort out the issue soon.
Trident CEO, Rajinder Gupta, said, "Promises made by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in last meeting here are going to be fulfilled soon. Projects of laying sewer lines in the city at a cost of over Rs 100 crore, a park, stadium and a government college have been approved. The work on these projects will start soon after Deputy CM lays foundation stone after February 24 but before code of conduct comes into force."
"We have opened an office in Green Avenue colony for the convenience of people. It will handle grievance of public related to government offices," Gupta added. The newly opened office will be headed by Zora Singh Thind, who has recently retired as Additional deputy commissioner, Barnala.
