Senior youth leader of the Malwa region Devinderjeet Singh Dhos has been appointed as president of the People's Party of Punjab's (PPP) youth wing.
Issuing a statement here on Monday, PPP president Manpreet Singh Badal said the party high command had decided to appoint the party's youth wing president to advice youths against the drug trade which was harming the rich culture of the Punjab.
Addressing the party workers at Dharamkot on Monday, Dhos said: "PPP has given me an opportunity to serve party workers. I will try to give my best to the party. As per the instructions of Manpreet Badal, all youth workers will support Congress candidates in the coming municipal corporation's (MC) elections in Punjab," Dhos said.
He said: "The Shiromani Aklai Dal (SAD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are dishonest political parties. The leaders of these parties are fully responsible for looting Punjab and defaming the rich culture of the state. We are working on the ideology of changed circumstances of the corrupt political system which was created by the some dishonest leaders during the past several years."
"We will discuss various problems of Punjab and find out solutions at the convention. I will visit all districts of the state to boost the morale of the workers of the party's youth wing, who had reposed their faith in me and pinned their hopes on PPP. The PPP was launched with an ideology and we have tried to stick to that and hopefully, we will succeed in touching the consciousness of people in the coming days," he said. The PPP was a party of people and not of leaders, he added.
