From September 1 consumers will have to purchase LPG cylinders at a uniform rate while the subsidy component will be transferred directly to their bank accounts. District food and supplies controller AP Singh has been appointed as nodal officer for its implementation.
Barnala district has 10 gas agencies. The customers of domestic LPG need to submit their particulars, including Aadhaar card number and bank account number to the agency concerned. The agencies have been asked to have special counters for accepting forms from customers for this purpose.
The customers who don't have Aadhaar number wont be able to get the subsidy. The subsidy can be availed only if bank account number is linked with Aadhaar.
The primary aim of direct benefit transfer programme is to bring transparency and do away with the misuse of subsidised gas cylinders.
