The District Congress Committee (DCC) held a protest against the ruling SAD- BJP government for inflation in bus fare, gravel and other essential household commodities in the state, on Wednesday in front of the deputy commissioner’s office.
Blaming the government for anti-people policies, they alleged that the government failed to provide adequate power supply to the people while it claimed that the state would be power surplus.
District president Harinder Singh Bhambari and Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra raised slogans against the government and said deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal had been claiming that the state would be power surplus while power cuts had been imposed in farms and urban areas.
They demanded `5,000 per acre as drought relief to farmers and said the government should entrust the CBI with investigation in all drug cases as names of prominent Akali leaders had figured in them.
Claiming that they would win both Patiala and Talwandi Sabo byelections with a thumping majority, the leaders said that ruling government would lose because of anti-people policies.
Former president of PPCC Shamsher Singh Dullo was also present at the protest at the end of which the leaders handed over a memorandum to deputy commissioner Arun Sekhri.
