The district woke up littered with waste and residue of firecrackers on Monday morning as after the celebration of Diwali last night, several towns of Fatehgarh Sahib are left with piles of waste due to bursting of firecrackers.

District people burst crackers the entire Sunday night the city woke up.

“People burst firecrackers but they are not bothered to clear the rubbish left. The entire area has been turned into a garbage dump” said Harpreet Singh, a resident of Mandi Gobindgarh.

“There was a decline in the use of firecrackers this year,” said Surjit Singh, a resident of Bassi Pathana.

“To celebrate Diwali people had come out on the roads. They were bursting firecrackers on the streets, but nobody came here in the morning to clean the litter,” said Harjit Kaur , a resident of Sirhind.
