District magistrate Rajat Aggarwal has banned the cultivation of Bt cotton near the international border with Pakistan.

The DM, under Section 144 of CrPC, has banned the farming of Bt cotton and other tall crops at a distance of 75 feet from the fence.

As per the orders, the Commandant of 74 Battalion of the BSF had brought to the notice of the district administration that some farmers were cultivating tall crops, including Bt cotton and other, near the international border, which could enhance the possibilities of infiltration along the Indo-Pak border, thereby posing a threat to the security of residents. The order shall remain in force till October 17.
