More than a month after a man alleged that he his wife and he had been handed a girl child even though she had delivered a boy, a DNA test has proved that his wife had, in fact, given birth to a girl.

The DNA tests on the child and the parents was conducted at a private lab. Initially, the hospital refused to accept the report since these were from at a private lab. On Monday, Bhupinder Singh Brar, medical superintendent at the hospital, told the media that the report was accepted by both the hospital and the parents. “Abdul Khan, the father has also accepted the same in a letter he submitted to the gynaecology department.”

Abdul’s wife, Aashiya, had delivered the child on June 5. After the father accused the hospital staff of child-swapping, deputy commissioner (DC) Kumar Amit ordered an inquiry and also directed the hospital to carry out a DNA test of the child if necessary. Aashiya has now been discharged from the hospital.
