Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday advised Congress deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Captain Amarinder Singh not to incite people on the sensitive issue of river waters by indulging in ‘lies’ and ‘hyperbole’.

Addressing election rallies in support of party candidate Gobind Singh Longowal, Sukhbir said Amarinder should act in a responsible way and not try to vitiate the atmosphere in the state by telling lies on the issue of river waters distribution.

“We will not increase the share of water being released to Haryana by a single drop,” the deputy chief minister said.

He urged the Captain to address concerns of the people of Dhuri rather than raking up an impractical issue.

“Amarinder is not keen on campaigning for the party-backed candidate. His only interest is in a show of strength of party MLAs and to humiliate Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa,” Sukhbir added.

The deputy CM toured the villages of Balian, Kumbarwal, Dhandiwal, Qila Hakeema, Batuha, Natt, Hassanpur, Kanjhli, Kanjhla, Ladda and Nayak Basti in support of Longowal.
