In a major decision, the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) on Tuesday issued notices to local bodies and medical education minister Anil Joshi and eight of his relatives in the double votes case on the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI) under the Representation of People's Act.

The notices were issued soon after additional deputy commissioner, development, Pardeep Sabharwal filed a criminal complaint against the minister and his relatives in the court of CJM PS Rai.

The ADC filed the complaint in his capacity as the returning officer of Amritsar north assembly segment represented by Joshi in the assembly.

The CJM's court has issued notices to Joshi and others for April 9, implying that they will appear before the court on the stipulated date and then seek bail. The offence under which the notices were issued are bailable.
