Driver, conductor of Badals-owned Orbit Bus booked

The police on Tuesday booked the driver and conductor of Orbit Bus service, owned by the Badal family, over forcing the passengers in a Punjab Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) bus to board their vehicle at PAP Chowk on Monday morning.

A case under sections 323, 353, 186 and 506 has been registered against the two on the complaint of PRTC bus driver and conductor at the Rama Mandi police station.

The police said the Orbit Bus staff, who had not been identified yet, were called for recording their statements but they failed to come.

Investigation has been started in the case and the accused will be identified soon, the police added.

Reports said the driver and conductor of Orbit bus (PB10-W-7257) allegedly stopped a PRTC bus at PAP Chowk and told the passengers to board their vehicle.

Even as the driver and conductor of the PRTC bus asked the passengers to not to leave the bus, the accused managed to persuade them.

PRTC bus conductor Nirmal Singh, the complainant, alleged that the accused also beat them up following an argument.

Meanwhile, PRTC Workers' Union president Balbir Singh Boparai said the accused had apologised for the incident in written. The accused, he said, would submit Rs 7,000 to government's account for the loss incurred due to the incident.

"We have reached on a compromise and the police would be informed on Wednesday about this," claimed Boparai.
