The Zone 4 of police commissionerate Ludhiana claimed to have busted a gang of drug peddlers with the arrest of seven people from different areas. The police have recovered 2.450-gm narcotic powder besides 100-gm heroin from them. All accused were booked under the NDPS Act.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) Swapan Sharma, while briefing mediapersons on Tuesday said that inspector Davinder Singh, SHO at police station, Jamalpur, arrested Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Sector 39 Chandiogarh Road on Tuesday following a tip off and recovered 250-gm smack from him. On being interrogated, the he told the police that he along with Vinod Kumar of Kharar and Satvinder Singh of Jalanpur village in Samrala procured drugs from Vikramjit Singh of Muktsar. The accused also told the police that Vikramjit was present at Kohara bus stop.
The ADCP, while yielding the information said that the clue was enough to break the whole network of drug peddlers. He said different teams were formed to arrest the accused from different areas.
He said the Koom Kalan police arrested Satvinder Singh and recovered 400-gm narcotic powder from him. The accused was heading towards Machhiwara from Koom Kalan. Police post Katani Kalan arrested Vinod Kumar and recovered 500-gm narcotic powder from him. The accused was heading towards Kharar, riding his motorcycle.
Meanwhile, police post, Ramgarh, arrested Vikramjit Singh from Kohara bus stop and recovered 350-gm narcotic powder from him.
On being interrogated, Vikramjit Singh told the police that he used to handover the money collected by selling drugs to Manoj Kumar alias Ramu of Narang Colony of Muktsar.
He told the police that Manoj Kumar was waiting for him at Sahnewal bus stand.
Following the information, the police arrested Manoj Kumar and recovered 100-gm heroin from him.
The accused Manoj Kumar told the police that Babbaldeep Singh alias Babbu of Jiuwal village of Tarn Taran and Harvinder Singh of Chautala village in Hoshiarpur were the kingpins of the gang.
Manoj said that he had to handover the money to Babbaldeep Singh, who was waiting for him at Bajda Cut bus stop. The Meharban police station arrested Babbaldeep on being informed by the Sahnewal police and recovered 500-gm narcotic powder from him.
The ADCP said that Harvinder Singh was also arrested adding that they recovered and 350-gm narcotic powder from him.
He added that more important information is expected from the accused during interrogation. The police are also investigating about their past criminal record, he added.
