Drug peddlers get five-month jail

Court of additional district and sessions judge Sanjay Agnihotri on Saturday awarded five months' imprisonment to New Dashmesh Nagar resident Satpal, Pawan Kumar of Bhargo Camp, and Raj Kumar of Ishwar Colony, for peddling drugs.


The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 each on them, and said that they would have to undergo one more month in prison if they fail to pay the amount.

Satpal, Pawan and Raj were arrested on April 7. While 110-gm intoxicant powder was recovered from Satpal's possession, 105-gm intoxicant powder was recovered from the other two.

The court also awarded seven months' imprisonment to Vinod Kumar of Qadian village. He was arrested by police during a naka near Kooki Dhab, and 250-gm intoxicant powder was recovered from his possession.

He would have to undergo one more month in jail if he fails to pay the fine of Rs 1,000 also imposed on him, the court said.
