District Taxation Bar Association (DTBA) organised a study circle seminar on 'Right to Information Act' at Bar Room, Aayakar Bhawan, Rishi Nagar, on Saturday evening.Association president Anup kumar Jain presided over the seminar and secretary Sanjeev Bhandari conducted the proceedings of the seminar.
Advocate Hitesh Kaplish, speaker of the seminar, said the RTI was a mode to secure access to information for the citizen. The information is assigned as fundamental rights.
He added that the act can be used by bar associations to verify the functioning system of different departments. Jain said that personal information with regard to income tax returns, which involve larger public interest can be disclosed.
Bhandari said that we have to be professionally bold in order to pursue our remedies under the RTI because again there was a direct conflict in getting relief for the client and getting the right kind of information.
Sumir Gupta, Vikas Sharma, Sanjeev, Nitin, Vardhman,Rajeev Sharma, Arun gupta, Amarjit kamboj, Dinesh Sharma and Susheel Bhakoo were present at the event.
