The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM)'s Ludhiana candidate in the recent Lok Sabha elections Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon, who lost his security deposits, has more trouble awaiting him for dual vote. The district election officer-cum-deputy commissioner Rajat Aggarwal has written to chief electoral officer, Chandigarh, recommending action against Sekhon.

It is pertinent to mention that former BJP minister Anil Joshi and Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Bathinda Jassi Jasraj alias Jasraj Singh Longia had already been booked for dual vote.

Sekhon is enrolled as voter at Pamali village of Dakha assembly constituency (serial number 149, voter card number LCL 1314269). He also is enrolled as a voter in Harnam Nagar, House Number 1180 in Ludhiana West constituency (serial Number 44 and voter card number GKC1759737). The said house happens to the office of CPM.

Sekhon had clarified that he was enrolled as a voter in his ancestral village Pamali. He had accused block level officers of making second vote in his name.

In his letter to chief electoral officer, the DC has said that he had marked an inquiry to assistant returning officer (Dakha)-cum-Ludhiana West SDM and assistant returning officer, Ludhiana West-cum-deputy director, local bodies.

The DC has recommended action against Sekhon.
