Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday said that every worker should ensure victory of Congress from their respective constituency.

He was addressing a meeting of party workers of Shimla (rural) District Congress Committee at state party headquarter Rajiv Bhawan here.

While addressing party workers, Sukhu expressed confidence that party workers would perform duties assigned to them responsibly.

"Congress party workers should undertake door-to-door campaign in favour of party candidate from their respective parliamentary constituency, and should urge the people to come forward to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls," said Sukhu.

He urged the party workers to spread awareness regarding the people-centric schemes as laid out in the manifesto of the party recently launched by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.

"We should also make people aware about the schemes launched by Congress government at state and Centre for the welfare of the general public," added he.

"Congress party had played a major role in getting India free from the British rule and after independence; the party launched various programs ensuring inclusive growth of the country," said Sukhu.

"Congress has always believed in the ideology of inclusive development of whole India and the party has worked for the welfare of each and every section of the society," he added.

Spokesperson Naresh Chauhan and HPCC treasurer Surender Chauhan were also present in the meeting.
